  susie gelbron and julie walker are the co-proprietors of carrot & stick press. susie (the carrot) and julie (the stick) met in graduate school at the california college of arts and crafts where they both earned masters degrees in fine arts. they founded carrot & stick press in 2000. each carrot & stick piece is hand printed on one of five antique letterpresses. raised letters and images are inked, and then pressed into paper, giving the printed surface its characteristic, impressed quality. every impression is carefully considered by the press operators, and again while orders are packaged, to maintain carrot & stick's uncommon standard of excellence.
